Parrot owners,do you cook for your birds?
My birds love a good "home cooked" meal, so I thought I would toss out my favorite recipe and see if anyone else had one to share?
1C brown rice
1C green/yellow lentils/split peas
1T italian seasoning
1t chili pepper flakes
Add to 6 c water, simmer for 35-45 min until most of the liquid is absorbed
Take off heat, stir in ~1 c freeze dried mixed veggies and 1/4 - 1/2 c couscous to absorb the excess liquid.

I do. Although I order a cooking mix from a lady online. It has pasta, legumes, rice, kidney beans, and a few other things in it. Very convient and inexpensive. I also grow sprouts. He loooooves sprouts. I get a great sprouting mix from her as well.
Although he likes KFC chicken, scrambled eggs, meatloaf, mac and cheese, lo mein, and nutri grain bars as well ;-) . Yup he's a pig LOL

Beane's Birds
I use the Avian Bean Cuisine and her sprout mix. Very reasonable for all that is in it. She doesn't have a "shopping cart" on her website but if you email her she will paypal you an invoice. She also ships very very quickly.

I cook Crazy Corn, although my guy's favorite is the Polly Pasta!

We use it for our breeders when babies hatch and they scarf it up!

I used to use various soak and serves when I was handraising. I would put it in a glass pan and cover with water and put in the fridge then heat it in the microwave the next morning.
