LH thank you so much for the pictures, that was fun. I LOVED the styles in the 70s-80s actually, maybe I am the only one? For someone like myself (well endowed in the bottom half) rust breeches were the BEST!
BTW, you have had some wonderful horses!

Perf tell me if I'm wrong, but I do belive that in your last and most recent picture the blue helmet you are riding in is not a cover? Is it one of those funky CO's?

Are you telling me they used to monogram bridles?!?! I want one!!!!! Were they done with the riders initials? Or the horses??? Does anyone have up close pictures of such "fancy stitching"???

Oh my God! I just got around to reading this thread and looking at the Twilight Zone photo gallery. All I can say is... http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif
It is indeed a parallel universe, as I think I have, at one time, owned all the exact same outfits and tack.
And yes, I also have the Herm Sprenger stirrups and the GPA. What's next? We hire some 12-year-old to glue colored crystals on our helmets?

Those pictures were great!! I wish I could ride now (as a 30 something) as well as you did at 6!

What a fantastic thread! I got carried away reading through all this. LH, you had the life I wanted. Can we trade for a week? I just got back into riding a year and a half ago after 20 years off ... but you rode at 6 about the highest I'll ever get! Okay, can someone help me with some of these abbreviations? I understand a GPA is a Grand Prix .... ??? There was something else in there I didn't get but can't remember it now. I'll ask later. I'm off to the barn now to see my baby!

Lord Helpus, did your parents ride? Not too many 6 yr.olds doing that kind of stuff without horsey parents. And how tall are you? The second picture you posted, it look like you've got some long legs. Got anymore for us?

My first show when I was just a teen, I wore rust breeches, off white shirt and a hairous tweed jacket and boy did I think I was trendy, mind you that was in the 70's. No pictures, I wish I did. Now I show in the greenish beige Pytchleys, Navy Jacket and blue/white striped shirt.
Funny huh..... http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif

I love all the old pictures - so much flair shows up over outside courses and substantial jumps like that! I love the grey horse, Moolah, too - so nice.

Oh thank you for this thread!!! I'm just seeing it too.
So many of those pictures from the 70's on look like some I have. (of course my jumps and beasties weren't generally that nice, and I never had a mongrammed noseband) I'd like a monogrammed noseband now though. I think enough of the other stuff is coming back (including bigger cavesons) that I could get away with it.
As for that blue coat... there must be more than one out there because I wore mine until it fell apart. BTW, where's a picture of a madras coat? I know I wasn't so much on the cutting edge of fashion that I was the only one with a plaid coat?! I am glad to see that I wasn't the only one with short boxy off the shelf boots in the 70's http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

Although the initials on the nose band is a little much for me, I very much want my next girth to have fancy stitching with the initials!
