My filly this year is slightly over at the knee. Sometimes you can hardly tell and other times it is very noticeable. I have her on Leg Aide and have cut moms protein back some. I have had her trimmed by the farrier. I want to do everything possible to make her better. My big question the inspection that she is going to in a couple of months. How will that effect her scoring? Anyone with experience taking a foal to the inspection that was over at the knees? I have a filly that "slightly" toes out. Vets agree that she will straighten with age as her chest widens. The GOV judges remarked that she was a typey filly who had inherited her mothers beautiful head and neck and would make a great sporthorse; however, they could not award her a Premium because she toed out. I'm guessing that any conformation flaw, however slight, will keep a foal from receiving a Premium award. Beautiful foal!

I bet that by inspection time the "over at the knees" will be gone!

I believe on very young foals (up to 2 months), it is not considered a big issue.

She is just about to turn 2 months old. I wonder if I should be wrapping her front legs? Is there anything I should be doing to her? Farrier didn't seem concerned. Is there any kind of stretching I could do with her? I just want to do everything possible for her. Thanks for the suggestions.

I had a similar expereince with GOV. I agree...any leg or hoof problem will keep you from getting premium. However, if you stay on top of it as you have been doing...I'm sure she will be fine in the long run.

How much leg aide is she getting? You may want to try upping the dosage.

10cc for ever 100 lbs. She is 300 lbs. I have cut back the protein in moms diet so maybe I will increase the leg-aide. Thank you for the suggestion.

I think Leg aide is a more concentrated form of Rejuvinaide plus, but to be safe I'd check with your Progressive nutritionist. Is she eating any kind of a foal starter?
I have one that was showing the same problem, and I went ahead and upped the dosage to 60 ccs daily of the Rejuvinaide. He looks much, much better now.

I would just stay with what you are doing. I would also NOT give her any grain. She will probably grow out of this before the inspection. Less is more in the business of raising foals. As long as she's getting good turn out and the mare is on good hay and producing enough milk - this filly will be fine.

Thank you all. The mares grain bucket has been moved higher and it will be much harder for her to reach it. The mare is on great turn out (now) and gets free choice orchard with a flake of Alfalfa Am/Pm. I will call progressive and see what they think. Thanks again. Here is a picture from last night.
