Palomino question
For those who have had palomino foals
If they had socks, were they obvious?
My new filly I could have sworn had socks when she was born - as in when she was wet and being delivered, but now I can't be sure they are there. Her blaze is obvious, but I really can't decide if I am imagining the socks. She's 3 days old and her mane and tail are not white, so I know she's got some coloring changes to go through.

Depends on their shade. The legs are usually lighter than the body for a bit and that can hide white on a newborn pali. If you can get her legs wet you'll be able to see.

Bleached baby hair can hide stuff.
My perlino filly's socks really only show when she's wet.

On some of them it is really obvious, and on others it is very hard to tell. It depends a lot on the shade of palomino.
If you get the legs wet you an see the socks better, though I've had to stall on registering a couple because it was SO hard to tell.

Oh thank you! I have another month before registration and I'll try getting her legs wet (she says doubtfully. lol).

The stockings were really visible on my filly from day one.

White was obvious on mine too and considering my foal was a very very pale palomino when born I would think socks should be obvious. What color are her mane and tail? Any pics?

White on many foals can be hard to distinguish until they shed out that fawn color foal hair. I have even had bays that were hard to tell. Palominos and light chestnuts can be very very difficult. If their feet are lighter then you have a clue that the leg might be white too.

We had a few palominos (unexpected, I'll tell you that!)...the underlying skin for socks was pink. The skin everywhere else was black or dark brown.

I'm waiting on the shedding of the baby coat to fully see what is white and what is gold. All four hoofs are white but I don't think all four legs have white on them and his eyes are a gray/green color. What color are your palomino's eyes.

All four hooves are white. Her eyes are navy blue. I still can't tell if she has socks, but I'm suspecting not.
