The CDCTA Spring Horse Trials was originally scheduled to run on Sunday, April 4th. As you know, volunteers are what enable our competitions to run, and since this was Easter Sunday, we were faced with the challenge of finding volunteers willing to give up this family time for the sake of the horse trials. After polling the competitors and obtaining the necessary approval from USEA, USEF, and the Area 2 council, we are now officially moving the show from Sunday, April 4th to Saturday, April 3rd.

The entire horse trial, every level from Baby Beginner Novice through Preliminary, will now run on Saturday, April 3rd. Please make a note of this now so that you don’t miss the event!

We will be accepting entries for the horse trials until March 29th, and encourage riders to enter online at www.evententries.comwhenever possible. You can also find the entry forms on the calendar portion of our website at www.cdcta.com. The course will be open for walking at 3pm, Friday, April 2nd. Maquest address for parking for the horse trials is 7200 Robinson River Road, Rapidan, VA 22733.

CDCTA will be running a Baby Novice division alongside the recognized HT.

New to Eventing, or need to get your green horse out in a positive but low key competition??? We have just the event for you!

CDCTA is running a Baby Beginner Novice horse trials in conjunction with the USEA recognized horse trials on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010. The Baby Beginner Novice test is not a USEA recognized division, but was a huge success last year. The dressage test will be USEF Beginner Novice Test A, jumps will be 18”-2’ maximum, all jumps will be forward and inviting. Entry fee is $100.

Please enter online at www.evententries.com, or submit the entry form on the CDCTA calendar. Entries will be accepted through March 29th, 2010. Please note, if you enter online at www.evententries.com, you do NOT have to pay online using a credit card. Simply create a log in and user id. Add a horse and rider, click on “Enter an Event.” Chose Area II. Scroll down and highlight CDCTA Horse Trials. Chose your division, verify experience (not mandatory), click on eligible selections (horse or rider), highlight whether or not you require stabling, fill in emergency contact information, then click on “Mail In Payment Electronic Entry- Click Here.” At the bottom, click to submit the entry. This will electronically submit all of your information to the secretary, and you can mail a check separately for the entry fee. This saves countless hours manually inputting information by the secretary, which will make her very happy J

And here is the info about the schooling day

Cross Country Open School Sunday, April 4th, CDCTA will host a cross country open schooling day for those wanting to school the course.

Cost will be $50 for members, $65 for non members, and the course will be open from 9am-3pm.

Riders must check in, sign a release and be wearing a pinney to school. Please be sure to bring your coggins. Maquest address for the schooling day is 24500 Peacock Lane, Rapidan, VA 22733.

The info about the schooling day just dropped into my mailbox; I forwarded it to several students, and am going to try to take my own horse too! How great that it's on a weekend day (let's just hope the ground dries up between now and then--for the sake of the HT *and* the schooling day!...)
