OC Trainers, CA
Thoughts on trainers in S. Orange County, CA, who have excellent reputations for being straight up and are great with amateurs...not seeking biggest A show barn due to realities of economy. I'm an adult lady. Thanks for all input here.

Mickey Hayden comes to mind. Michelle Parker is excellent if you don't mind driving to N. San Diego county.

I rode with Mickey Hayden for quite a few of my junior years. He is great with Ammy's, and has a thriving, successful show barn. There are a ton of trainers in the San Juan Capistrano area, and more if you head a few miles north. Tracy Baer is at my barn in Huntington Beach and has a very nice, very successful program, and lots of ammy riders.
PM me if you want more details.

Thanks for this help...I'd love a suggestion about a great one a bit closer by, in SJC for example...

Mickey Hayden is very close to SJC in Nellie Gail, about a 5 or 10 minute drive. In SJC perhaps the Berney's at Sycamore, or I know a few people who ride at Equites with Ginnie Bryant next to Sycamore.

Mary Morrison at Ivy Gate Farm in SJC would be my recommendation. She is fantastic and has a great assistant too. The barn is friendly, with a good mix of amateurs and juniors.

Do you ride hunters or jumpers?
There is no one out there better than Mickey. He is fabulous and I recommend him and his barn over anyone else. His focus is on the jumpers, though.

Ditto, especially if your focus is on the jumpers. An added bonus is the barn that he is at is small, and has a very private feeling. I grew up there and miss it, but am much closer to where I board now in HB.

Agreed! I hadn't said anything to this point because he is one of us amateur's best kept secrets. He's located at Coto.
