    Default YES!

We had a foal on April 22, 2008 by Sailor's Spirit out of A Bid Spectacular (Legal Bid).

We could not be more happy with the result!

    Here are some pics.

If you look on his progeny page, that Black Pearl is a stunner!

Ravencrest Camp, is your colt Heffner? There's a colt out of A Bid Spectacular on the progeny page. I couldn't log in to Facebook to see your link.

    Thumbs up

I am most anxiously waiting for our first Sailor's Spirit due any day now. Keep your fingers crossed for us. The horse is lovely and the SO is just wonderful to deal with and most accomodating, making for very smooth sailing.
Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time...

Arnika, yes that's our colt. I think he was about a month old when I took the picture that is on Sailor's website. The ones on Facebook are at 2 months. We are really happy with the cross and are hoping to breed back to Sailor next year.

I have to second what Wishes R Horses said, Shannon was absolutely wonderful to deal with. Our mare came into season a lot faster than we anticipated, so we needed a rushes, unplanned collection. Shannon trailered Sailor from a show to a collection facility on very short notice.

Gucci, we are anxiously waiting for the August foaling for Lilly, a Han/TB cross maiden mare. Keeping fingers crossed that all goes well.

    Default Updated photos

I just received this photo from the U.S. of her 2 year Sailor baby just lightly started under saddle. She is out of a Thoroughbred mare and apparently is a saint

    Thanks for posting that Shannon....

That's "my" Abbey (Regatta DF) that I bred, and sold as a weanling. She's out of Lady Suzanne xx (Regal Intention x Image of Greatness).

Abbey's owners have absolutely raved about her, and are incredibly excited about what is in store for her in the future. I can't wait for more updates!

Draygonfyne as a breeder myself, I should have known to add the pedigree and breeder! Sorry about that! Abbey by far, is the closest resemblance to her sire and her dam is a spectacular mare!

Oh and Wishes R Horses - congrats! Hint. Hint.

I had the pleasure of working with Shannon for a couple of breedings and she was fantastic. Really good quality semen. My vet was very impressed. The stallion collection facility she uses is top notch too. I sold the first mare down to the states while she was in foal so I never had the pleasure of having a Sailor baby. My other mare that I bred to him was my beloved Trakehner mare Adidaz. Shannon would email me regularily to check in on how momma was doing. She even wanted me to call her during the middle of the night once she foaled. Poor Grandma was sitting by the phone waiting for the news. Unfortunately the foaling did not go as planned and the foal came out with front legs and head fine but the rear legs were breached,( like a frog). We never did end up getting the foal out. I don't even know if it was a filly or a colt. It was gorgeous with tall stockings up to its knees and a really nice blaze. Huge foal from what I could see. I had to put my mare down due to her losing so much blood. I knew she would never make the long trip to Guelph. My heart was empty. I think actually Shannon called me a few hours later for the update and when I told her I remember her breaking down in tears. She called and emailed me regularily to check in on how things were going. I can honestly say that I gained a friend through this whole breeding thing. This comes from someone I have never even met. I have dealt with a few other stallion owners and I would not breed back to their wonderful stallions because of the lack of caring and the difficult time to get the semen. But with Shannon I can't wait to use Sailor again. I have two breedings to him and I think I will wait and breed him to Adidaz's foal. She is a nicely marked pinto Dutch/Trakehner cross. Who knows maybe one day there will be a pinto Sailor baby soaring over a jump.
Sorry for the long post but if anyone is considering breeding their mares to Sailor you just cannot go wrong.

And I was fortunate enough to purchase the mother of Abbey, Lady Suzanne (Jaffy), from Dragonfyne last year and couldn't be happier. Thank you Dragonfyne!!
This year she gave me a beautiful grey colt by Van Gogh B and she is safely in foal to Pablo for next year. I can see my mare in the Sailor Spirit filly's face.

I had a sixth sense about this mare when I saw her for sale. I just knew she was right. Great great broodmare. Love her.
