Yeah you're right, she had the only expensive ponies there.
The kid seems to be not only an awesome rider (never seen her but certainly heard of her success!), but also a fantastic kid. This is the sort of kid you should be applauding. Or does being obnoxious towards a 10 year old make you feel better about yourself?
Congrats to Lillie Keenan! That is an awesome show of consistency for a 10 year old pony rider at the biggest show of the year. Being able to handle that kind of pressure at such a young age makes it exciting to think about her future!
She might have had 3 really nice ponies ( I swear I'm NOT jealous) but she still had to ride them. Anyone that snarks is just pissed cause their mummie and daddy didn't buy them a pony. Or ponies. Or a groom, a trainer, a tutor, a, well, you all get the idea. But she still had to ride them. Well. And, SHES TEN. I swear I'm not jealous. really. I have a pony.
Lets not kid ourselves that many of the winning horses (be it short stirrup ponies, pony hunters, junior hunters, adult ams, all the way up to grand prix horses) cost A LOT of money. And, sure, some of them are easier to ride than others. But even the most expensive, easiest ones still need a rider. And for one, you have NO idea how much work she has put into these ponies or how much they cost to begin with (not saying that I do either). If she wasn't such a good rider, she wouldn't have millions of people trying to get her to ride their ponies. She should be very proud of her accomplishments, as should every other kid who showed there this week. Now I think it's time to look at some pics of all the pretty ponies! Anyone wanna post some?
I was there cheering on my barn mate who showed in the mediums too. She ended up 11th on a pony named Short Notice. But I saw Lillie's ride on Enchanted Forest and what a beautiful pony and trip she had hands down!! She is an excellent rider.
Whether they were six figured or whatever, you still have to ride. I have been at the show for 2 weeks. It was a great time!

I made this name simply to join the congrats for Lillie! I work at Heritage, and during the summer, Lillie spends ALL DAY at the barn, riding whatever she can, helping around the barn, and being the kind of kid you don't always see today. There were days I would be walking out to go home, but she would still be in a stall, braiding down a mane or something of that sort!
There isn't a kid more deserving of this record breaking year! And while she's certainly lucky to have an incredibly supportive mother and the Heritage program behind her, this kind of amazing success could not occur without a great deal of talent and hard work!
I watched the top of the smalls, mediums and larges. I got to see ALL of the big money ponies go. And a lot of the "I got a GREAT deal" ponies as well. Lillie rode her butt off today. She was ON and did not miss a lick. I don't care HOW expensive or inexpensive her ponies were - she still had to ride them. And she deserves every great thing she got today. She is a GREAT kid that had a GREAT weekend.
