Often when you poultice the horse will get lamer before the thing pops. I might even wrap one of those single use hand warmers to the bottom.

Don't panic. Use it, clean it a few times, it will mellow out and look brown again. You didn't turn in black. Just really really dark brown.

Nope. If you are through the base you most likely have to.pull tne footing and fix the base. You might try keeping it watered in the mean time.
