Derby Finals Round 1 Order Of Go

The qualifying round of the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals kicks off today at 8:15 a.m. The top 25 horses will return with a clean slate tomorrow, Aug. 20, for Round 2, another classic round, at 6:45. The highest-placed 12 horses will advance to Round 3, a handy round, which follows immediately.

Hunt Tosh And Lone Star Reunited

Hunt Tosh has a new addition at his barn aisle in the form of a very familiar face: Lone Star.

The pair won the 2010 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals (Ky.), the 2009 Protocol Trophy and back-to-back regular working hunter and grand hunter championships at the Pennsylvania National in 2009 and 2010.

Clearly Claims An Unusual Derby Win At Horse Shows By The Bay III

Williamsburg, Mich.—July 22

For a few minutes, it wasn’t quite clear whether Clearly had won the $20,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby or not.

Kelley Farmer accomplished a remarkable feat at Horse Shows By The Bay III. Somehow, she managed to ride three horses to exactly the same final overall score in the derby. When the announcer broadcast the scores of her last to jump, Red Sky, the total added up to 387—the same score she’d earned on Clearly and Praise as well.

Jersey Boy Stars On Derby Day At Devon

Devon, Pa.—June 5

Jen Alfano found a perfect way to follow up last year’s win in the USHJA International Hunter Derby at Devon aboard Jersey Boy: winning it again.

She and her longtime partner scored a wire-to-wire finish in the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby on the final day of the Devon Horse Show.
