Wylde And Smoking Gun Shoot To The Top At The Ridge

Wellington, Fla.—March 21

Most riders without hunter derby experience wouldn’t stand much of a chance in a international derby with a serious start list, especially if they only have one hunter in the barn. But most riders aren’t Peter Wylde.

The team gold medalist from the Athens Olympic Games topped the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at The Ridge at Wellington aboard Smoking Gun. It was the first hunter derby of his career.

As soon as tonight’s USHJA World Champion Hunter Rider Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular wrapped up, Larry Glefke knew exactly where he’d gone wrong.

“The only mistake I made tonight is that I should have locked Tori in the bathroom,” he joked.

Liza Boyd Pregnant

Reigning USHJA International Hunter Derby Champion Liza Boyd will be sitting out the first half of the 2014 show season as she’s pregnant with her second child. She and husband Blake Boyd are expecting another girl to join their 4-year-old daughter Elle in early June.

Boyd’s Best In The WCHR Pro Finals

Liza Boyd’s had to endure a lot of teasing lately.

It started in Kentucky, after she won the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship. That’s when Peter Pletcher started in on her, telling her it was time to have a second baby.

And after she won the WCHR Profressional Finals today, Oct. 4, other top professionals have joined in, eager to get their top competition out of the show ring.
