Dr. Holekamp Elected President

Dr. Tim Holekamp was elected President of the American Trakehner Association at its 36th annual convention in Jacksonville, Fla.  Holekamp and his wife Cheryl own New Spring Farm in Columbia, Mo. and are possibly best known for their acclaimed Trakehner stallion Windfall*Pg*, a U.S. Olympic team bronze medalist.

“We started in 1984 with two Trakehner mares that we bought at the ATA auction in Columbus, Ohio,” said Holekamp, explaining that it took just one trip to an ATA convention for him to seal a relationship with the breed and its association.

Rutgers Equine Science Center Announces Recipient of 2011 “Spirit of the Horse” Award

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Rutgers Equine Science Center has named Peter J. Cofrancesco, III as the 2011 recipient of the Center’s annual “Spirit of the Horse” award.  Cofrancesco will receive the award during the New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s 54th annual New Jersey Breeder’s Award ceremony on Sunday, January 30, 2011.  Sandy Denarski, the 2006 inaugural recipient and chair of the Rutgers University Board for Equine Advancement and Center director Karyn Malinowski will present the award.
