Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby to Host Rider Reception at BuBinga Lounge

Reno, NV - May 25, 2011 - The Second Annual Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby is pleased to invite all of its participants to a VIP rider reception benefitting ALS of Nevada. The beautiful reception will be held on Sunday September 4, 2011 from 6:30p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the luxurious BuBinga Lounge in the host hotel, Eldorado Hotel Casino Reno. Riders, trainers, owners, and sponsors are all invited to attend this exciting event, where the order of go will be drawn for the hunter derby the following day.

California Young Rider, Riana Porter Seems to Shine Even When the Sun Doesn't

Despite Mother Nature's record breaking rains this last weekend, Riana and Romax Foldager made a clean sweep winning all three Young Rider classes at the Shelly Siegel Show in Santa Rosa, CA.   After her victory, Riana commented, "Romax and I are really just starting to compete this season.  We had some show hurdles for the month of May."   Weather and the EHV-1 lockdowns have made competitions difficult this season.

Shenandoah Arabians & North East Peruvians at the Virginia Horse Center

From June 16-19, the Virginia Horse Center will welcome two dynamic, breed-centric shows. 

The Shenandoah Arabian Classic will run June 16-19, and is Arabian Horse Association rated, USDF rated, and a USEF "A" rated Arabian, Half Arabian and Dressage horse show. Featured divisions include Sport Horse, Dressage,Working Hunter, all seats of Equitation, Sidesaddle, Halter, Liberty, English & Country Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Native Costume, Trail, and Western Horsemanship competition.

Virginia Horse Center Foundation 25th Anniversary Date Announced

On Saturday, October 8, 2011, the Virginia Horse Center Foundation will open its proverbial barn doors to celebrate the organization’s 25th anniversary.

“We want to mark the occasion with a community-oriented day of activities highlighting the vibrant and diverse nature of the Virginia Horse Center,” said Katherine Truitt, the Executive Director, adding that, “There are a lot of people to thank for the Foundation’s longevity – from founding members to politicians to the board to our participants - and we want them to feel our gratitude.”

Deadline Extended: 2011 Washington International Horse Show Poster Contest

Washington, DC, June 7, 2011 – The Washington International has extended its deadline for submitting entries in the 2011 Poster Contest to July 31st at midnight.  WIHS, the leading indoor equestrian event in the US, is seeking an original poster design for its 53rd annual event, to be held Oct. 25-30, 2011, at Verizon Center in Washington, DC.  The six-day equine extravaganza features the country’s leading horses and riders in exciting jumping competition.

VT-NH Komen Presents 2nd Annual Ride for the Cure, October 10

MANCHESTER, VT – The Vermont-New Hampshire Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure – the Race for the Cure people – holds its second annual equine themed fund raising event, the Ride for the Cure, on Monday, Columbus Day, October 10, 2011, hosted by the Green Mountain Horse Association (GMHA) in South Woodstock, Vermont.

The Ride, which will traverse ten miles of forested trails maintained by GMHA and private landowners, will leave from (and return to) GMHA’s extraordinary facility in South Woodstock starting at 9:30 a.m.
