Mark Bluman and LaGran Dash for the Cash in the $20,000 Bluegrass Classic at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

Lexington, KY - May 10, 2014 - When speed is key to winning an event, it helps to be riding one of the fastest horses in the world. LaGran was the fastest horse at the 2010 World Equestrian Games with Pablo Barrios, and today he was the fastest horse in the $20,000 Bluegrass Classic with Mark Bluman of Colombia. The pair outraced a starting field of 38 competitors during the speed event with a blazing clear round three seconds ahead of the closest finisher.

Geoffrey Hesslink Rides to Top of $5,000 Equitation Challenge

North Salem, NY – May 10, 2014 – Equitation and hunters were the main draw in the schedule today at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Show. Some of the best junior riders in the country went head to head in the $5,000 Equitation Challenge, presented by EquiFit, inc. Geoffrey Hesslink of Shelburne, VT, rode Belano V to the top of the standings over 26 entries. The Grand Amateur-Owner Hunter Championship was awarded to Bridget Hallman of Oyster Bay, NY, riding Do Tell.

Guarantee and Claire Azar Claim NAL/WIHS Children's Hunter Classic Win at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

Lexington, KY - May 11, 2014 - Claire Azar earned the highest score in the first round of today's NAL/WIHS Children's Hunter Classic at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show, and when she cleared the final fence of the second round she guaranteed her victory with the aptly named Guarantee.

Brianne Goutal and Nice de Prissey Victorious in the $50,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix

North Salem, NY – May 11, 2014 – Jumpers competed on the beautiful grass field on the final day of the first wee of the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows. Held at Old Salem Farm, the $50,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix, presented by The Kincade Group, Merrill Lynch saw Brianne Goutal of New York, NY, take home the win with Nice de Prissey over McLain Ward on Zander and Quentin Judge riding HH Dark de la Hart. Topping the junior hunters for the Grand Junior Hunter Championship was Caroline Dance of Westchester, PA, on Show Time.

Mickie Sage Pilots Harlu to the Blue in the USHJA National Hunter Derby at Spring Warm-Up II at Colorado Horse Park

Parker, CO - May 8, 2014 - The $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby and the Mini Prix both were set to run at the same time during Spring Warm-Up II at the Colorado Horse Park. Professional Mickie Sage planned to compete horses in both classes putting her a little under the gun.  

I didn't have a lot of time to learn the derby course," said Sage. "I didn't even walk the course. I went in the ring and asked the other trainers what the lines were and what the course was, Then, I went up and walked the Mini Prix course and rode that horse first."

Truman Truly Shines with Christopher Payne at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

Lexington, KY - May 8, 2014 - Maypine Farm's Truman has bundles of talent and, as of today, a Kentucky Spring Horse Show championship tricolor to his name.  This morning, Christopher Payne rode the 7-year-old gelding to the First Year Green Hunter championship title at the Kentucky Horse Park. 

Truman and Payne came in to the day with a first and third place finish over fences under their belts, sitting neck-and-neck in the points race with Kelley Farmer and So To Speak, who had finished yesterday with a first and second place ribbons.

Second Year in a Row! Pablo Barrios and Zara Leandra Win $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

Lexington, KY - May 8, 2014 - It was déjà vu at the Kentucky Horse Park this evening as Venezuela's Pablo Barrios galloped through the timers with a win in the first $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic of the season aboard Zara Leandra. The talented combination won last year' s kick-off to the series and eventually captured the $50,000 Hagyard Leading Rider Bonus. Barrios and Zara Leandra have continued to improve their partnership over the last year, and it paid off when they crossed the jump-off finish line ahead of pathfinders Hector Florentino and Anemone's Vicky.

Jennifer Alfano and Candid Are Picture Perfect For Grand Hunter Championship at Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows

North Salem, NY – May 7, 2014 – The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse shows awarded their first hunter championships of the season today, and taking the Grand Hunter Championship was Candid, ridden and owned by Jennifer Alfano of Buffalo, NY. In the Grand Prix Field, jumpers had plenty of entries as Darragh Kenny (IRL) and Picolo won over 53 others in the $5,000 Open Jumper 1.40m class.

Mindful and Kelley Farmer at Home at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

Lexington, KY - May 7, 2014 - Mindful is a brand new mount for Kelley Farmer, but the gelding looked right at home with Farmer in the irons during today's opening classes of the Kentucky Spring Horse Show. The pair kicked off the two weeks of acclaimed hunter competition at the Kentucky Horse Park with wins in both the High Performance and Regular Conformation Hunters.
