The mystery of what's happening to the Eurocommerce horses, including the individual silver medalist from the 2012 Olympic Games, Eurocommerce London, still isn't solved. Gerco Schröder has not competed his horses since he was in Rio de Janeiro in the beginning of October as Rabobank has refused to release the horses’ passports. News has been that Stal Eurocommerce was planning on taking Rabobank to court to release the passports, but it now seems like Stal Eurocommerce and Rabobank are trying to find a solution together.

The horse-shopping frenzy continues in Europe, and lots of top show jumpers have changed hands during August. In addition, one fantastic horse has a new rider, ending an unforgettable partnership.

It took three demanding rounds to decide the winner of the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen, Germany, on Sunday, July 8, and it was Michael Whitaker who emerged victorious on GIG Amai (Nonstop—Belda VH Wolfke, Bacara).

Saturday, July 7, was another great day for Lauren Hough and Ohlala (Orlando—Carrera, Cardento) in Aachen, Germany. The pair managed to repeat their winning formula from yesterday and took home the win in the Sparkassen Youngster Cup Final against 23 top competitors.

Hough and Ohlala were double clear, and as last to go in the jump-off, they managed to shave off more than a second from Philipp Weishaupt’s leading time to win the class.

Lauren Hough ended up on top in the July 6 Sparkassen Youngster Cup in Aachen, Germany, on the Swedish-bred mare Ohlala. This was a speed class for 7- and 8-year-old horses with 11 fences including two combinations. As second last to go, Hough stole the win from German rider Hans-Dieter Dreher on Canberra R (Cyrano de Bergerac—Pandora, Phantom) with 0.08 seconds.

The teams from France and Germany made sure to give the spectators an exciting FEI Nations Cup night in Aachen, Germany, on July 5. The tension built during the two rounds and reached a peak as the teams’ two anchor riders—Marco Kutscher on Cornet Obolensky for Germany and Olivier Guillon on Lord de Theize for France—were to enter the huge floodlight arena in one of the most prestigious Nations Cups in the world.

The German team started the year strong and should be the team to watch at the London Olympic Games. They currently lead the Top League after yet another strong win in the Nations Cup series in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on June 8 after they won at Rome in May.
