Year 1: Done And Won

One year ago I was driving down to Florida feeling pretty kicked down after Fair Hill. Everything was changing. I was a little nervous leaving True Prospect Farm, to say the least, and I was just about to start off training with Scott Keach to focus on my show jumping. I was definitely at a crossroads in my life.

Love The Journey, Not Just The Destination

As always, time seems to get away from me in between blogs... To be honest, I feel as though some time needed to pass after Rolex, after feeling a bit kicked down, and I needed something new to talk about!

I’ve been pondering quite a bit lately all that’s gone on in between: What happened with America at the WEG, running my own business, and keeping good goals for my top horses going into the fall.

Ruminations On Another Tough Rolex Lesson

I know this blog is most definitely overdue, as I realize it has been a month since Rolex and my, shall we say, “interesting” go there.

This means I have approximately 11 months to think up the most exciting way I can get eliminated in the show jumping there next year. I don’t think many people can say their first two trips to Rolex have been as interesting as mine have been!

Never A Dull Moment

Jennie's first ride on Ibella since
September.

Well I have to say, there’s been quite a bit of change and exciting things that’ve happened in the pre-season here in Ocala.

Out On My Own, But Not Really Alone

As I sit here in sunny Florida looking out the window at how incredible Scotty Keach and Matt Flynn’s farms are, I’m feeling very grateful and lucky that I just spent the day riding horses and caring for them, and that this is considered my work.

Kicked Down But Never Broken

Well, I guess that weekend didn’t go quite as planned...

I would have to say I do feel a bit kicked down after having that 20 on cross-country at Fair Hill International this weekend. I think Ping was super, and I have to take full credit for the fact that I didn’t bend out the line in the keyhole to corner to corner combination in the main arena that day.

The Sport We Love Is A Mental Game

Well, I have to say that at the end of my last blog I was hoping for bareback and three-star champions at Plantation Field, and I guess even though I had to settle for reserve champion in the CIC I think I can still count last weekend as a win as far as competition weekends go.

Out Of The Comfort Zone

Its been a while since I’ve checked in with everyone here at the Chronicle, and I have to apologize—my new workload does make some tasks a bit tougher to get to!

In all honesty, I think I’ve been holding my breath in getting Cambalda back in action and having something good and positive to write about going into the fall season (and what seems to be the rapidly approaching end of the season).

Back From Germany And Back To My Roots

Well, Luhmühlen has now come and gone, and though the event most definitely did not go as planned, I am relieved that Ping is OK. He’s happy out in a field enjoying a well-deserved vacation after quite a long spring lead-up to Rolex and then Germany. I have to say that I think Luhmühlen is a stellar event, and while Germany does not seem to favor me, I do quite favor it!

Germany, Here We Come

Well, it’s the early morning of the big trip to Luhmuhlen... I realize I haven’t checked in in quite awhile, and it’s really shocking how quickly the past few weeks have flown by.
