Dressage rider Tina Konyot, who represented the United States at the 2010 World Equestrian Games on her magnificent stallion Calecto V, will be giving a dressage clinic at Waterbury Dressage Center, a world-class dressage facility near New York City. The Tina Konyot Clinic will be held December 10-12 and room is available for auditors.
“Tina is fabulous and I ride with her every time I get the chance. She has probably trained more Grand Prix horses from start to finish than any other woman in the country,” said Kathryn Theallet, FEI rider, owner and trainer at Waterbury. “Tina is a coach’s coach and she can really teach you how to get the most out of your horse.”
The clinic will feature riders from novice to the advance level, including FEI level dressage riders and trainers Theallet and Katja Eilers who will be participating in the clinic at the Grand Prix level. “Our students will also be participating in the clinic at the FEI level,” Theallet said, adding that an additional strong point of Konyot’s is working with problem horses.
“Tina taught a clinic at Waterbury before and she was amazing. Everyone who took the clinic got so much out of it and I know the same thing will happen at the upcoming clinic,” Theallet said.

In addition to her training, coaching skills and ability to work with problem horses, Konyot is known for the bond she develops with her horses. Her bond with Calecto V, her World Equestrian Games partner, began four years ago at an auction. “He came from a large farm and hadn’t had a lot of one-on-one attention and no one wanted him. When I got him home he didn’t have any personality at all and no muscling,” Konyot said. “Now he oozes personality and he is the love of my life.”
Konyot has spent years dominating the dressage world. In addition to training with her father, the late Alex Konyot, she spent five years in Europe where she was a student of Herbert Rehbein, Rudolf Zeilinger and Klaus Balkenhol, the former coach of the American Olympic Team. In addition to teaching clinics, Konyot is currently accepting new horses for training and competition.
