Well it’s 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning, and as I’m lying here sitting in the back seat of my truck with Bizzie and Emma Ford’s dog Charlie, I’m reflecting over the past two weeks of my life here in eventing land. I really lead an interesting life…

Now I must apologize that I didn’t write after my big Waredaca weekend, so I’ll do a little recap on that before I get into the Richland Park news. I had six horses run at the “Daca” as we call it last weekend.

My little champion Indie won his second training level event, which was exciting. Beth Battel’s lovely mares Sara and Thalia both tied with each other to take home third in their training level division. I happened to rock them in on cross-country with the exact same optimum time as well, which was quite funny. I was thrilled with Nina Gardner’s young mare Paprika, who finished sixth in her first preliminary in quite rough conditions!

The little mare made light of the effort and jumped around to end on her dressage score of 33. Nina’s young mare Catching Melody popped around another novice, scoring a 29 in the dressage. Aside from a good ole slip on cross-country in the muddy footing, she jumped all her jumps clean as a whistle!

Now on the very exciting news I had during the week—I would like to congratulate Caitlin Silliman for purchasing one of my newly made advanced horses, Catchastar!

I was sad to see her go, but I look forward to seeing the new partnership develop. It was a great experience riding this mare for Rachel Dwyer, who is one of my great friends and who I really appreciate trusting me with her girl. Ironically, I sold her to Rachel six years ago after doing her first event on her! Eventing land is a small world, and as the sport is dynamic in nature you seem to really appreciate every upswing you have. Rachel trusting me like that and supporting me in Phillip’s and my decisions with the mare meant so much to me.

I miss Cooper still so much but I’m slowly feeling like I’m gaining my footing back and just wanted to shout out another thanks to everyone who supports me whether it’s people reading this or my amazing owners who trust me with their horses. Thank you!

Well, stay tuned for my big news about Richland!
