Visionary Patriarch Euthanized At Poplar Place

Visionary Patriarch, owned and ridden by Jacel Galloway, was euthanized Nov. 10 after falling at fence 7 on the preliminary cross-country course at the Poplar Place Horse Trials in Hamilton, Ga.

Galloway, Covington, Ga., was unhurt in the fall. According to the U.S. Eventing Association, veterinarians immediately attended to Visionary Patriarch “but determined there was irreparable damage to the leg.”

Visionary Patriarch, an 11-year-old Cleveland Bay-Thoroughbred gelding, and Galloway competed at preliminary together for several seasons. The horse was most recently ridden at novice by Danielle Staples.
