USHJA Celebrates Iconic Breeds and Great Breeding: 2015 Pre-Green Incentive Championship Offers $14,000 in Bonus Awards

LEXINGTON, KY, January 22, 2015 - The United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) continues its recognition of great breeding and iconic American breeds with five bonus awards for high-scoring horses at the 2015 Pre-Green Incentive Program Championship.

LEXINGTON, KY, January 22, 2015 – The United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) continues its recognition of great breeding and iconic American breeds with five bonus awards for high-scoring horses at the 2015 Pre-Green Incentive Program Championship. 

In its third year, the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program Championship will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, August 11-13, 2015. The Championship enjoyed a 22 percent increase in participation in 2014, with 131 horses competing for the title of USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Champion. The bonuses offer special recognition and rewards, totaling $14,000, to encourage the highest standard of breeding in the United States. Please note that some of the bonus awards require exhibitors to register to be eligible.  Bonus awards in 2015 include:

  • $2,500 High Score International Hunter Futurity Bonus
  • $1,500 High Score Thoroughbred Presented by Take2 Second Career Thoroughbred Program
  • $5,000 High Score American-Bred In Remembrance of Candie Owens, Presented by Oakwell Farms and DS Holdings, LLC
  • $2,500 High Score American Quarter Horse Presented by Plastilite Corporation and Equine Semen Transporter
  • $2,500 High Score Sallie B. Wheeler/US National Hunter Breeding Championship Alumni Presented by the Wheeler Family

The Pre-Green Incentive Program debuted in December 2012 and has garnered praise from members across the country for its encouragement of the development of young horses. The Pre-Green Incentive Program is open to horses of any age that are eligible to compete as a pre-green hunter under USEF rules. All entries intending to compete in the 2015 Pre-Green Incentive Championship must be entered no later than July 22, 2015, and enrolled horses must compete in a minimum of two USHJA Pre-Green Stake classes at competitions starting between December 1, 2013, and August 5, 2015. The Championship prize money topped $186,000 in 2014, and once again 65 percent of annual enrollment fees and 50 percent of the entry fees make up the total prize money.
