Gladstone, NJ – February 2, 2015 – The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation is pleased to announce the installation of new custom footing by Dan Carr and his WestWind Surfaces at Hamilton Farm in Gladstone, NJ. Continuing the goals of supporting athletes, promoting international excellence and building for the future, the USET Foundation completed the overhaul in December. Hamilton Farm hosts a calendar of important USEF events such as the Dressage National Championships, the Talent Search East and an array of other shows and clinics.

Hamilton Farm has served as the headquarters for the USET since 1961 and was designated in 1979 as an Olympic training center for equestrian sport. As the team and affiliate organizations have grown, Hamilton Farm has remained a legendary centerpiece as both a historical landmark and an important competition venue. It had been several years since the footing had been updated and the leadership at USET Foundation recognized the necessity to invest in this important component of a world-class facility.

This past winter, the USET Foundation asked Carr back to redesign the footing to accommodate primarily show jumping and dressage. Carr responded by designing a proprietary footing blend specifically tailored to the needs of the two disciplines.

Carr also designed a state-of-the-art membrane system to draw water through the arena and underneath, a departure from traditional surface flow designs. The footing drains effectively, no matter the conditions. The footing includes WestWind Surface’s one-of-a-kind Performance Additive, designed to suit the needs of jumping and dressage. The new WestWind Surfaces design is a significant enhancement to the facility and will provide world class footing.

USET Foundation Executive Director Bonnie B. Jenkins is thrilled with the new installation.

“We are very excited about the new footing and drainage system WestWind Surfaces has installed and are confident that the main arena will be of the highest standard for national and international events in Gladstone,” said Jenkins.
