The U.S. Equestrian Federation announced the six-month suspension of trainer Sergio Campos in its most recent posting of Hearing Committee rulings. Campos was also fined $3,000 for unsportsmanlike behavior.
The fine and suspension were the result of an incident occurring at the Winter Equestrian Festival (Fla.) in February 2015, and the Hearing Committee heard his case Nov. 18, 2015.
“[Campos] was observed by the assistant FEI steward and certified jumper schooling supervisor exhibiting unsportsmanlike behavior toward a groom in the schooling area of the International Ring. When the official approached him to diffuse the situation Mr. Campos cursed profusely, physically pushed the official, and followed him continuing to use profanity in an aggressive manner and threatened to fight the official off show grounds. Mr. Campos was eventually escorted off the show grounds by security,” states the USEF’s notice.
