The U.S. Equestrian Federation Ad Hoc Committee on Selection approved naming Laura Kraut on Cedric and Beezie Madden on Coral Reef Via Volo to the show jumping long list for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The USEF Selectors, in consultation with Chef d’Equipe George Morris and Dr. Tim Ober, team veterinarian, voted unanimously to add Kraut, 46, on Cedric (Chambertin—Cortina, Carolus I), a 14-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Cherry Knoll Farm, and Madden, 48, on Coral Reef Via Volo (Clinton—Run Away, Heartbreaker), a 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood owned by Coral Reef Ranch, to the show jumping long list.

McLain Ward, who broke his leg in a fall earlier this season, was already added to the long list with Sapphire and Antares F.

Per the USEF selection procedures, the selectors have the discretion to recommend up to five athlete/horse combinations for the long list before the conclusion of the selection trials.

After the selection trials, athlete/horse combinations will be named to the long list according to their ranking in the trials in addition to athlete/horse combinations named through discretionary selection. The selection trials run March 21-24 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Fla., in conjunction with the USEF National Show Jumping Championship, and the Chronicle will be there to bring you photos, interviews and more.
