USEF Changes Helmet Camera Protocol

On Jan. 5, the U.S. Equestrian Federation announced that after careful consideration, they've updated their protocol regarding helmet cameras.

In October, USEF banned helmet cameras, thus falling in line with British Eventing who'd banned them due to possible safety risks.

British Eventing had commissioned a study through Transport Research Laboratory, but the study is on hold due to lack of funding.

Effective immediately, the USEF will not prohibit the use of helmet cameras, but their use will be at the discretion of individual competition organizers.

USEF reminded competitors that the decision to wear a helmet camera is voluntary and at their own risk, and advised consulting the helmet manufacturer before mounting a camera on a helmet.
