UGA Announces Temporary Closing Of Large Animal Hospital After EHV-1 Case

The University of Georgia Large Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital announced it’ll remain closed for two to three weeks after a horse admitted to the emergency service on Jan. 31 tested positive for equine herpesvirus-1.

The University of Georgia Large Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital announced it’ll remain closed for two to three weeks after a horse admitted to the emergency service on Jan. 31 tested positive for equine herpesvirus-1. 

“As more information becomes available we will be sure to update you,” stated a release from the Athens, Ga., hospital. “Currently hospitalized horses are being managed according to established recommendations for limiting exposure of additional animals.”

In the meantime, Auburn University Large Animal Hospital in Auburn, Ala., is recommended for emergency patients.
