Three More Goodbyes

Things have been good and busy the last couple weeks since the Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials. A lot of training and fitness work has been going on, and I’ve actually sold two more of my horses in training, which is always exciting, but it’s sad when they leave!

Things have been good and busy the last couple weeks since the Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials. A lot of training and fitness work has been going on, and I’ve actually sold two more of my horses in training, which is always exciting, but it’s sad when they leave!

Grayson has a new home with Ellie Holmes, who’s training with Susie Beale, and it sounds like it’ll be in a perfect new home for him. Zoom Zoom has also got a new rider in the irons… Erin Nolan, who rides with Sally Lofting, will be taking over the reins, and I’m excited to see this young horse progress.

I’ve been teaching quite a bit at Grayson’s former owner’s (Erin Hurley) new farm, and I’m very impressed with the place, as well as all the amazing off-the-track Thoroughbreds she rescues and finds new homes for! I’ve included some great pics of the farm.

I also had a fun week in Philadelphia this past week, attending a Phillies game, as well as a Lil Wayne concert with Ms. Lee Lee Jones. I must say that I had a great time at both. Also one of my best friends, Lillian Heard, had her big going away party at Katie Walker’s house, and I have to say that it’s one of the most amazing houses in our area. If you compete at the Plantation CIC*** event this fall you’ll get a chance to check it out on Saturday evening.

I didn’t get to fully enjoy the festivities due to a 4 a.m. start time for the New Jersey Horse Trials the next morning, and I also feel as though I’m missing my right arm with Lillian being gone. I’m thrilled for her though and know she will be having a great opportunity at Carol’s place in Ireland… Good luck Fernhill Lillian!

Sunday brought a great day for some young rides at the New Jersey Horse Park, with Nina Gardner’s lovely young mare Catching Melody placing third out of 26 horses in the training on her dressage mark of 27. And Nina’s other young mare named Musical came in second out of 22 at her first event on a 23.8. I was thrilled with both of them!

Candace Tribe’s horse Contangos Jaguar came third as well, ending on his dressage score of 31. A big thank you too Jackie Imohlte for being such wonderful help on Sunday and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY, as she turns 18 today… It seems like just yesterday that it was mine! I’m getting old now!

New Jersey was a fun event, and we’re now getting two days home until we leave for the Millbrook event up in New York, which I am sure will be a great time as always. Millbrook will be a busy weekend for me with six rides throughout the weekend. Cambalda comes back to the open intermediate there, and I’ll have Drummers Call and Indie in the preliminary. Then Ollie, Catching Melody and Dreamboat will all run the training level, so that should keep me on my toes!

Hope all is well with everyone… luckily I haven’t caught anything on fire these past two weeks, so I think I’m doing pretty good.
