Thoroughbred Celebration Show June 10-12, 2011

After a successful premiere in March, The Virginia Horse Center Foundation is expecting a large turn-out for the second show in the Thoroughbred Celebration Series on June 10-12. This series, created to promote the athleticism and heart of Off The Track Thoroughbreds (OTTB), features horses who were bred to race but have much to offer across all disciplines.

"These shows are just what racing needs. There are so many useful horses that just need a second chance when they are finished racing.

“These shows are just what racing needs. There are so many useful horses that just need a second chance when they are finished racing. These shows give people a reason to want to acquire an OTTB. Just think how big this show will grow when the “purse” money for the two stakes classes gets bigger. Horse shows very rarely offer any incentives to the exhibitor except at the highest level, this show offers prizes and money to exhibitors at all levels, just like the racetrack!”

Information about these shows and many more can be found at www.horsecenter.org. The Virginia Horse Center Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which owns and operates the Virginia Horse Center. The Foundation is proud to support a 600-acre facility that serves 400,000 people; functioning as a classroom, land reserve, market place, and recreation venue. The VHCF manages 110 events annually, most free and open to the public, and hosts the Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center.

Competitors will enjoy three days of hunter/jumper/pleasure divisions in the covered East Complex at the Virginia Horse Center while also taking part in charity auctions benefiting After the Finish Line and promoting worthy adoption organizations like New Vocations Racehorse Adoption, CANTER Mid Atlantic, Illinois Equine Humane Center, Thoroughbred Placement and Rescue, and Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation at James River.

The first show attracted high caliber offspring of sires such as Holy Bull, Two Punch, Tapit, Lionhearted, Quiet American, Unbridled Song, Richter Scale, and many more. Participation like this garnered an enthusiastic write-up on the Three Chimneys Farm “Good News Friday,” a segment on paulickreport.com, by famed journalist Ray Paulick. A write up in the column translates to a donation to the featured program, a badge of honor for our non-profit Foundation.
