Summer Horse Trials

I have to apologize for the lack of writing on my fine blog here! Things have been busy, busy at True Prospect as the competition for this summer has been in full swing, and I've had quite a number of rides going!

Surefire Horse Trials and Maryland Horse Trials 1 went quite well. With seven horses at Surefire and eight this weekend at Maryland I've had my hands full, which has been great.

All the horses have gone quite well with a few ups and downs, but for the most part they’ve put in solid performances.

Surefire Horse Trials and Maryland Horse Trials 1 went quite well. With seven horses at Surefire and eight this weekend at Maryland I’ve had my hands full, which has been great.

All the horses have gone quite well with a few ups and downs, but for the most part they’ve put in solid performances.

I did however fall off at Maryland when one of my mounts decided the liverpool in the preliminary show jumping looked a bit frightening. Ah eventing! You’ve got to love the ups and downs of it. This sport sure keeps you modest doesn’t it?

I’m looking forward to the upcoming Stuart Horse Trials where Cambalda will make his first debut since his win at Jersey Fresh late this spring. I’ll also have a new ride for me—a lovely gray mare named Catch A Star in the OI. Walkabout will also be out at Stuart after his go at Surefire where he jumped into the water so big that he nearly fell on his face. Being a true-hearted horse he picked himself back up and carried on without a blink.

Beth Battel’s lovely mares Sara and Thalia will also go training at Stuart, and I am looking forward to having them there.

On another note, Big Phil has given me a week off after Stuart, and I will be returning back to the old homeland of California for a few days to catch up with my ever supportive family and amazing friends I have back there. Word on the street is my good friend who rides for Mike Huber, Heather Morris, will be in California at the same time, and I can’t wait to catch up with everyone. I’ve been gone for three years and have been in Cali for a total of six days in the three years since I’ve been gone.

This week Nick Cwick came out to try a lovely young horse I’ve had my eyes on through Molly Rosin. I firmly believe it’s more similar to Cooper than any other horse I’ve seen and ridden. Hopefully Nick will be able to grab the ride and be in the irons on that one. I believe it could be a future champion.

Other than that, I did turn 23 last week, which was interesting. I am getting old, and I’m not sure how to feel about that.

My good friend Mark Krause made his way out for a visit and helped me ring in a new year in style, which was nice of him.

Just as a mention, I’ve received my boots from Wise Equestrian, and they are lovely. I’ll be wearing them at Stuart so check them out. I also know how to measure, so if you’d like a pair of your own feel free to find me, and I would be happy to help you out with that!

Well it’s almost noon, and my half-day off is winding to an end. I better get myself back on a horse!

Take care,
Jennie
