Reddick, Florida – February 9, 2015 – Scott Keach and the crew at Southern Cross Equestrian are gearing up to host the Ocala Horse Properties $15,000 Eventing Prix Invitational on Tuesday, March 3rd in Reddick, Florida. Timed to coordinate with the Eventing calendar, the Prix will run the Tuesday before the Red Hills CIC and will be used as an official schooling competition by both the U.S. and Canadian High Performance Teams.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Eventing Jumping Challenge, Keach, along with co-organizer Max Corcoran, are making a few changes to the competition for this year. Now an invitation-only competition, they’re aiming for 32 Eventing riders to make up international teams from the U.S., Canada, England and New Zealand. The Prix’s format will determine both team and individual winners, with the individual jump-off determined by winning round rules. The prix will begin at 2:00 P.M., with a morning warm-up class for invited riders taking place from 10:30-12:00.

Keach, once an Australian Eventing team member and now a Grand Prix show jumper, has developed the Prix as a way for Event riders to gain team experience in a pressurized environment. He believes this will help them to be more successful at Eventing competitions, where the stakes are high on show jump day.

Riders will compete as teams and then in an individual jump-off for $15,000 in prize money over a Marc Donovan designed course. Graeme Thom has signed on as announcer, and a ring-side VIP tent, music, banners, spectator bleachers, and of course the opportunity to win significant prize money, will all combine to produce an exciting competition.

In addition to team and individual honors, Sharn and Ashley Wordley are again sponsoring a $1,000 award for the most stylish round, presented last year to Lauren Keiffer, and Station Hill Farm is sponsoring a Groom’s Award.

The 2014 team competition was won by Canada Team 1, captained by Jessica Phoenix, with Canadian Selena O’Hanlon taking home the individual prize.

Boyd Martin and Phillip Dutton have already signed on for this year, as well as top Eventers Jennie Brannigan, Lauren Keiffer and Buck Davidson, who will all surely give the Canadians a run for their money.

Corporate sponsors to date include Title Sponsor Ocala Horse Properties, Woodmen of the World, The Dutta Corp., Southern Cross Equestrian, Antares, KER Sport Horse Nutrition, Station Hill Farm, Delbene Brothers Construction, Wordley Martin Equestrian Footings, Peak Performance Equestrian Services and Tryon International Equestrian Center.

The event is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to come watch and cheer on their team. Ringside, = catered seating in the VIP tent is still available for $500 a table and food will also be available for purchase on-grounds.

Southern Cross Equestrian is located at 13440 NW Highway 225, Reddick, FL 32686. For more information, please contact Max Corcoran, (540) 295-4326 or maxcorcoran@msn.com.
