The Dutch website horses.nl is reporting that Saudi rider Khaled Al Eid’s mount Presley Boy will have to miss the London Olympic Games due to colic. And subsequently, Horse & Hound is reporting that Presely Boy is now battling laminitis.

Al Eid, the individual bronze medalist from the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, rode Presley Boy for Saudi Arabia at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (Ky.) and the 2010 Asian Games, where the Saudi team won gold.

Presley Boy, a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion, is in intensive care at a veterinary clinic in the Netherlands. Kamal Bahamdan will take Al Eid’s place on the Saudi Olympic team.

Al Eid recently was also involved in an Equine Controlled Medication violation with the Fédération Equestre Internationale, which jeopardized his Olympic participation, but a ruling by the Court for Arbitration in Sport reduced his suspension and allowed his Olympic bid.
