Vero Beach, FL – March 1, 2011 – The Professional Riders Organization announced today that Operation Homefront has become a charitable partner of PRO. Operation Homefront is a national non-profit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors.

PRO will work with Operation Homefront throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for both local Operation Homefront chapters and their national program. The partnership will kick off with fundraising and public awareness programs at the DerbyCross Competition at the Palm Beach Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL the weekend of March 5, 2011.

Buck Davidson, a founding member of PRO, has been a long-time proponent of having riders reach out and seek partnerships with charitable causes outside equestrian sports: “As riders, we are so excited to help an organization that impacts the lives of families of our military members in times of need.  Our sport originated from the cavalry and we feel it just makes sense to honor the history of eventing by supporting families who are connected to all branches of service.”

“We began this process with the assistance of Athletes for Hope,” said Samantha Lendl, Executive Director of PRO, “AFH has been tremendous in helping us identify a charitable cause that our community of riders could get behind to create a positive impact, and they continue to be instrumental in assisting our members who have personal interests in specific causes they would like to get involved with.”

“Operation Homefront is very pleased to have the support of PRO, and we look forward to working with them to provide assistance to military families in Florida and across America,” said Simone Hoover, President of Operation Homefront’s Florida chapter. “We’re going to have a great crowd of spectators at DerbyCross this weekend, and hope to see a lot of supporters of our service members and their families come out for a fun event.”
