Petaluma, California – For the second week in a row, Peggy Munkdale claimed a $500 bonus as part of the SSG Gloves “Roar for More” promotion, now in its third year at Sonoma Horse Park in Petaluma, California.

Hot off her win in the $1,500 Wright Horse Sales Junior/Amateur Modified Jumper Classic on Sunday, May 11, Munkdale and her partner of six years, Enfuego, returned to Sonoma Horse Park to capture the $1,500 Brown Beauty Junior/Amateur Modified Jumper Classic on Sunday, May 18, during the HMI May Equestrian Challenge held May 14 to 18.  This time out, Munkdale topped a 15-horse jump-off to claim the win, as well as the $500 bonus on offer to the winning rider if they competed while wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style riding gloves.  For the second week in a row, Munkdale was sporting her ‘Digitals’.

“These are now officially my lucky gloves,” laughed Munkdale, who trains with Mandy Porter and Nicole Bloom.  “Thank you to SSG Gloves.  This is a great program, and SSG has a customer for life!  I’m going to use my bonus money to buy lots and lots of SSG ‘Digital’ gloves . . . and a new pair of shoes!”

Sunday also brought an exciting win for Peyton Warren in the $3,500 1.40m Horse Quencher Open Jumper Classic, which acted as a selection trial for the upcoming North American Junior and Young Riders’ Championship.  While four contenders advanced to the jump-off, Warren’s time of 42.09 seconds riding Lysander 99 was more than nine full seconds faster than runner-up Sydney Callaway, who crossed the timers in 51.23 riding VDL Viper H.

“It’s typical for me to go faster; I like to go fast!” said Warren.  The 16-year-old has been partnered with Lysander 99 for a couple of years now, and trains with Jill Humphrey of Leone Equestrian in Sacramento, California.  “Lysander is a bit weird and quirky and I consider myself to be weird and quirky, so that’s why we get along.”

Warren is a fan of the SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves, saying, “I like them because they enhance my performance in the show ring.  I’m going to use my $500 bonus to purchase a new hunt coat and, of course, a new pair of SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves.”

Macella O’Neill rounded out the trio of winners in the SSG Gloves “Roar for More” promotion during the HMI May Equestrian Challenge.  A 12-horse jump-off determined the final placings in the $2,000 1.20m Ascenta Equine Omega3 Classic on Thursday, May 15.  With a clear round in a time of 36.12 seconds, O’Neill narrowly edged out Guy Thomas who stopped the clock in 36.14 seconds.  In addition to claiming the win riding Murka’s Milord D’Elle for owner Colleen May, O’Neill picked up a $500 bonus for wearing SSG ‘Digitals’ on her way to victory.

“It had to be the aerodynamic qualities of the gloves!” laughed O’Neill of Diamond Mountain Stables following her victory.  “Actually, the SSG ‘Digital’ gloves are more durable than I expected.  I go through gloves very quickly, but these seem to really hold up.  I won’t lie, I probably wouldn’t have tried them if it weren’t for the incentive program, but now that I have, I am completely hooked and they are all that I ride in!”

Now in its third year of partnership with the Sonoma Horse Park, SSG Gloves is offering a total of $12,000 in bonus money to competitors through its “Roar for More” promotion during the 2014 show season.  Designed to reward competitors for their loyalty to the SSG Gloves brand, the SSG Gloves ‘Roar for More’ promotion sees four different classes selected as eligible events at each horse show, with a $500 bonus on offer to each of the winning riders if they are wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style riding gloves with the horse head logo clearly visible in all rounds of competition.
