Beezie Madden’s remarkable win wasn’t the only memorable moment of the $250,000 Canadian Pacific Grand Prix CSI-W. Here are a few things that stood out to me as I watched it all go down on Nov. 1 in Lexington, Ky., at the National Horse Show…

This is what’s called a game face. There’s no elegant facade when it comes to Rothchild—he makes it quite obvious to the crowd just how much he wants to win.

And this? This is what scope looks like. Andretti S may have finished ninth with Laura Kraut, but he got an A for effort!

The award for most extravagant effort has to go to Casall, ridden by Ali Wolff.

And the award for most adorable ears definitely goes to the mare Davendy S, ridden by Jessica Springsteen.

And Paulo Santana’s mount, Taloubet, always wins the cutest face prize.

Happiest with her night has to go to Candice King, who rode Kismet 50 into fourth place with a broken bone in her hand.

The $250,000 Canadian Pacific Grand Prix CSI-W jump-off list included two young winners of both the ASPCA Maclay and Pessoa/USEF Medal Finals—Lillie Keenan, who finished fifth on Pumped Up Kicks, and Brianne Goutal (pictured) on Nice de Prissey, who was eighth and looked like she was still equitating.

The coolest dude award for sure went to Cortes ‘C’, who went blazing around the jump-off track like a racehorse, flinging his legs around in mid-air, and then walked back into the awards ceremonies like a kid’s horse, calm and composed.
