A New York court has upheld the U.S. Equestrian Federation’s suspension of Brigid Colvin for a violation of Chapter 4, GR410-411 of the USEF rules, in connection with the 2014 USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship Horse Show. The USEF Hearing Committee had issued a seven-month suspension, effective Sept. 1.
Following the issuance of the USEF ruling, Colvin filed a lawsuit against the USEF in the state of New York challenging the Hearing Committee’s decision. The New York court upheld the Hearing Committee’s decision on Sept. 25.
Following an appeal by Colvin, the appellate court granted a stay of enforcement of the lower court’s order pending a decision on the request for a stay pending appeal.

On Nov. 17, that appellate court denied Colvin’s request, has vacated the interim relief, and Colvin’s seven-month suspension commences immediately on Nov. 17.
