Neveah, a mare competing in an intermediate division of the Ocala Horse Properties Winter II Horse Trials (Fla.) with Andrea Leatherman, died following a fall on the cross-country course today.

According to a statement from Equiventures: “Horse No. 27, Neveah, fell at Obstacle No. 4 on the intermediate cross-country course. The obstacle was a tabled oxer. Neveah caught both front legs on the front of the oxer and rotated over the jump. It landed with its head and neck on Andrea Leatherman. Sadly, Neveah expired shortly after landing. Andrea suffered a concussion and undetermined other injuries. She regained consciousness and was speaking clearly. She was transported to Ocala Regional Hospital for examination.”
