Lloyd Landkamer passed away Sept. 25 after a long battle with cancer. He was 60.

Landkamer began his career in dressage as a rider, and he started managing shows in the 1980s. In addition to being a U.S. Equestrian Federation “R” technical delegate and FEI Level 3 steward, he was discipline manager of dressage and para-dressage at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (Ky.), competition manager of the U.S. Dressage Finals (Ky.) and competition manager of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (Fla.), in addition to running DressageShowInfo.com

He was based in Hamel, Minn., with his partner Bill Solyntjes, and though his travel schedule didn’t allow for much riding, he still enjoyed breeding a few foals every year.

“The equestrian world has lost an amazing person and talent,” said Mark Bellissimo, CEO of International Equestrian Group. “Lloyd was instrumental in many events across the country and was a critical member of our team at the Global Dressage Festival. We will all miss his energy and enthusiasm for the sport he loved so well.”

Bellissimo plans to name the first CDI of 2016 at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in honor of Landkamer, and there will be a moment of silence honoring him during the Rolex Central Park Horse Show.
