Liza Boyd Gives Birth To Second Child

Reigning USHJA International Hunter Derby Champion Liza Boyd, of Camden, S.C., has been sitting on the sidelines this season, awaiting the birth of her second child.

Elizabeth Adeline Boyd was born on May 30. The child, who they will call Adeline, was 7 lbs. 13 oz. Liza and her husband, Blake Boyd, and daughter, Elle, 4, are all excited to have Adeline home.

At the time of the delivery, Liza’s father, Jack Towell, was judging at Devon (Pa.) and had to settle for the multiple phone calls and pictures he received.

“He came right over Monday morning, and he’s already said that she needs to come ride,” Liza laughed. “I think he’s mad that I haven’t brought her to the farm yet. He took me straight from the hospital to the farm and put me on a horse. But we’ve got time; maybe we’ll let her sit on [hunter derby star] Brunello.”

Liza was out at the barn on June 4 to teach a lesson. “I just had to get out and get some fresh air,” she said. “Hopefully sooner than later I can get back on. The big question is who I’m going to ride first.”
