The Central Park Horse Show, presented by Rolex and produced by The Chronicle of the Horse, is pleased to announce the riders for Friday night’s Sept. 19 feature event, the “NYC vs. The World” pro-am speed challenge presented by Donald J. Trump, which will start at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. The CPHS runs Sept. 18-21, in New York City’s Trump Rink in Central Park.
International Equestrian Group CEO Mark Bellissimo commented, “This is going to be a very exciting and unique pro-am competition set within the amazing back drop of the NYC skyline. I want to thank Donald Trump, Suncast Corporation and Land Rover for their fantastic support of this competition.”
The New York City Team will be sponsored by Land Rover North America, and The World Team will be sponsored by Suncast Corporation. Donald Trump, title sponsor of the “NYC vs. The World” challenge commented, “While Kent Farrington has won the first two annual Trump Invitational grand prix events at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, I have to say my loyalties are with Georgina Bloomberg and her team that is supporting the greatest city in the world, New York.”
Bloomberg added, “We have assembled a strong and passionate team of tough New Yorkers who will proudly represent this amazing city. This is our home turf, and we are ready to defend it.”
Farrington, who was recently appointed as a Rolex testimonial and joins an elite group of athletes including Roger Federer, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, replied, “I am confident our team is up to the challenge. I’ll let the results in the ring do the talking.”
“Land Rover has a long established connection with the equestrian community. Sponsoring the New York City team as they compete in one of the world’s most iconic venues is a natural fit for us,” said Kim McCullough, Brand Vice President, Land Rover North America. “We are proud to be part of this inaugural event and enthusiastically support the Central Park Horse Show.”
The “NYC vs. The World” pro-am speed class will be an exciting event pitting teams of riders against each other. One team rider will go as fast as they can over a faults-converted speed course to set a time that the rider from the other team will try to beat. The fastest time between those two wins a point for their team. The team with the most points will win the inaugural “NYC vs. The World” speed title at the Central Park Horse Show, while the top eight individuals of the entire class will share $50,000 in prize money.
The NYC Team will be sponsored by Land Rover and captained by Georgina Bloomberg, with fellow New York teammates:
