Wellington, Florida – Kent Farrington was the latest winner in the SSG Gloves “Go Clean for the Promotion”, picking up a $3,000 bonus for wearing SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves on his way to victory in the $34,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Series Round VI on February 13 at the 2014 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.
Farrington topped a 74-horse starting field by posting the fastest clear round over the track set by British course designer Richard Jeffery. Irish Olympian Kevin Babington held the lead riding Shorapur with a time of 72.91 seconds when Farrington entered the arena at the Global Dressage Festival show grounds. With Blue Angel, Farrington sped around the track in a time of 71.51 seconds to move to the top of the leader board. With only four riders remaining, none were able to catch his time, giving Farrington and the mare yet another win to add to their ever-growing list of accolades.
As Farrington was wearing SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves on his way to victory, he was presented with a $3,000 bonus in recognition of his support from SSG Gloves.
“You’ve got to go for the bonus!” exclaimed Farrington following his win. “They put the money up; I’m going to wear the gear!”

It marked the sixth week in a row that the SSG bonus has been awarded to the winner of the WEF Challenge Cup. Wilton Porter, Alvaro ‘Doda’ Miranda, Todd Minikus, Lauren Hough and Ben Maher have each won $3,000 in bonus money so far this season for wearing SSG Gloves on their way to victory, and now Farrington has added his name to the list.
“I think it’s great,” said Farrington of the SSG Gloves “Go Clean for the Green” promotion, now in its fourth year at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival. “I’ve said in years past that I think any sort of rider bonus is great. The future of our sport is for more rider incentives and bigger prize money across the board, and to have a company like SSG being at the forefront of doing that here at the Winter Equestrian Festival is great!”
SSG Gloves will continue to offer a $3,000 bonus in each of the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series events, as well as a $1,000 bonus in the High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic and the High Junior Jumper Classic competitions. If the winning rider in any of these three competitions is wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style gloves with the SSG horse head logo clearly visible, they will be presented with bonus money during the awards presentation. A total of $60,000 in bonus money is on offer from SSG Gloves at the 2014 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.
