Top eventer Michael Jung reported today, Sept. 16, that he underwent surgery to repair a broken tibia sustained in his fall from fischerRocana FST at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI**** (Great Britain) on Sept. 3.

“Rocana” slipped and fell in the water between fences 4A and B during the Burghley cross-country, but Jung went on to win the event with La Biosthetique-Sam FBW. He also earned individual and team gold for Germany with fischerTakinou at last weekend’s Longines FEI European Eventing Championships at Blair Castle in Scotland.

During the surgery, Jung, also an Olympic Games and FEI World Equestrian Games gold medalist, had two screws inserted near his ankle to secure a small chip off his tibia that had been  displaced in the fall.
