On Jan. 31, six-time Olympic event rider Andrew Hoy confirmed his application for the job of U.S. Equestrian Federation Eventing Technical Advisor/Chef d’Equipe.
“The application has gone in,” said Australian-born Hoy, 51.
Married to a fellow Olympic event rider, Germany’s Bettina Hoy, Andrew stated that if he should be chosen as the U.S. eventing coach, his wife’s expertise would be of help.

“There is one position open, and that is for chef d’equipe,” he said, putting to rest rumors that he and Bettina submitted a joint application for the job. “But I believe that Bettina has been warmly welcomed in the States, and she could be of some assistance.”
If hired, Andrew’s vision for the team’s success is optimistic. “The goal is to see the U.S. eventing team become successful internationally, to win medals,” he explained. “America has been strong over the years; it definitely hasn’t fallen over. We can work with what is already there and develop it.”
Hoy’s career highlights include representing Australia in six consecutive Olympics, as well as competing individually. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he captured team gold and individual silver. He currently resides in England.
