HIPICO Santa Fe is New Mexico’s premier venue for equestrian events and a new shining star in the Southwest’s horse show circuit. On the heels of a banner inaugural year, HIPICO Santa Fe announces it will expand its horse show season in 2016, offering seven weeks of hunter/jumper competition from July through September, encompassing the A-rated, 3-week Santa Fe Summer Series and new 4-week Fall Fun Series.  Equestrians from Texas, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Louisiana, Florida, California, Canada and Mexico will travel to Santa Fe to compete in hunter and jumper competitions, including an International Hunter Derby, weekly Welcome Stakes, and multiple Grand Prix classes with up to $50,000 in prize money. September shows will feature Junior and Senior Championship Grand Prix and Special Classes for all.

HIPICO is home to The Grand Prix de Santa Fe, Inc. (GPSF), a nonprofit 501(c)3 dedicated to supporting, advancing and showcasing the equestrian community of New Mexico. Founded in 2004 by Guy McElvain and Brian Gonzales, the GPSF established the first world-class show-jumping event in New Mexico that, during its six-year run, donated 100% of its proceeds to local nonprofit organizations serving at-risk children and equines, as well as land and cultural preservation. In its second season at HIPICO Santa Fe, the $50,000 Grand Prix de Santa Fe will take place on Sunday August 14, 2016.

All events are free and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, with the top competitions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Each Sunday afternoon features a Grand Prix jumping competition between high-level equine and human athletes in front of thousands of excited spectators. Nothing beats the thrill of this high intensity sport! Spectators can visit the carefully curated HIPICO Market Place for a taste of local food, art and jewelry, as well as equine merchandise. VIP guests can visit the HIPICO VIP Lounge for a distinctive luxury hospitality experience and concierge services along with ringside dining featuring farm-inspired cuisine, massage and wellness amenities, live music, an art gallery, gaming and billiards, and tranquil lounging areas.

HIPICO Santa Fe is committed to providing the very best in equestrian competition and an extraordinary 2016 show experience for our human and equine athletes, as well as our treasured sponsors, owners, vendors and spectators. The 137-acre, full service equestrian facility features an indoor arena, enhanced, all-weather footing in competition arenas, including additional grass rings for the 2016 show season, spacious, comfortable barns with permanent 12×12 stalls, designated horse-only bridle paths, a clubhouse and miles of trail riding on adjacent public lands. It is located only six miles from the world-class tourist destination city of Santa Fe and 53 miles from Albuquerque.  It is also home to the New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding.
