The Human Equine Aid and Rapid Transport team unveiled their brand new horse ambulance at the Devon Horse Show (Pa.), May 26-June 3. The new ambulance features many improvements and should make HEART even better at providing emergency care and transport for injured equines.
The new ambulance features an expanded trailer with a more efficient layout and advanced equipment. The trailer is a 2006 4-Star Custom Built. Some of the new improvements include:
* A reinforced cross-beam in the trailer body to support a horse in a sling
* Four ring tie-downs in the trailer body to attach the rescue glide to a horse
* Removable stall walls
* A camera system with infrared
* Custom storage area on the wall for the rescue glide
* Stainless steel sink with water supply and heater
* Generator with ability to run on provided power supply
* Outside and inside lighting
The ambulance also features a new look, with artwork designed by Thomas J Coon Design of Charlottesville, Va.

Next on the schedule for the new HEART ambulance is the Lake Placid and I Love New York horse shows.
Donations for HEART’s new equine ambulance came in from around the country. Major funding was provided by the Sweeley Foundation.
