Members of the British Equestrian Federation and the Belgian Federation are appealing a decision by Fédération Équestre Internationale officials to demote the British and Belgian show jumping teams to the Meydan FEI Nations Cup Promotional League. BEF officials flew to Geneva, Switzerland, on Dec. 10 to appeal their case according to Horse and Hound.

The British and Belgian teams tied for ninth in this year’s final Meydan FEI Nations Cup standings. According to the rules, the Nations Cup teams that finish ninth and 10th are demoted to the promotional league, and the highest placed team in the promotional league joins the top league. FEI officials first decided to allow both Britain and Belgium to compete in the top league, then reversed their decision several weeks later and demoted both teams.
