Lexington, KY – January 13, 2015 – Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover, is once again making financial contributions to several charities that support local equine interests and serve the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This year EEI is donating nearly $32,000 to eight charities, representing an increase of more than $10,000 over last year.
Known as the “Best Weekend All Year,” the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, April 23-26, 2015. “Rolex Kentucky” is one of only six Four Star Three-Day Events in the world and the only one in the Western Hemisphere.
“The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event has a long-standing relationship with the community and it’s very important to us that we return that support and give back in a meaningful way,” said Stewart Perry, President of the EEI Board of Directors. “We are thrilled to increase the number of wonderful charities that we are supporting this year and also to increase the amount of our contributions.”
For the 16th year, Kentucky Children’s Hospital is receiving a donation from EEI. This amount of this year’s donation is $10,000. Kentucky Children’s Hospital has been in the process of renovating the premises, and EEI’s donation last year resulted in a new patient room named in honor of EEI.
Horses and Hope is a breast cancer initiative of the Office of the First Lady and the Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP). They are receiving a donation of $5,000. Their goal is to work with the state’s equine industry to identify new opportunities to provide breast cancer awareness, education, early detection through screening and treatment referral, as well as to raise funds to sustain programs into the future.
Kentucky State Police Fallen Trooper Project is establishing a permanent tribute to the Troopers of the Kentucky State Police. In May of 2015, the Kentucky State Police will unveil a larger-than-life bronze statue of a modern day Trooper that will be placed in the center of the new Kentucky State Police academy facility. It will represent those who have served, those that serve today and those that will serve, as well as those that have died in the line of duty. EEI is donating $5,000 to the Project.
Midway College is a private, non-profit liberal arts college, founded in 1847 by Dr. Lewis L. Pinkerton, as the first school in the United States to serve orphaned and disadvantaged women. The school has evolved through the years, and is now known for its excellence throughout Kentucky and beyond in four pillar program areas – Business, Equine Studies, Nursing, and Teacher Education. The main campus day program still operates as Kentucky’s only women’s college and provides a unique learning and living opportunity for women seeking their associate or bachelor degrees. Midway College is also receiving a $5,000 donation from EEI.
EEI Central Kentucky Riding for Hope was founded in 1981 as a riding program for individuals with physical disabilities. Over the years, CKRH has grown into a multi-faceted program that is dedicated to enriching the community by improving the quality of life and the health of children and adults with special physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs through therapeutic activities with the horse. Equine assisted activities and therapies provide independence, achievement and community to the individuals that they serve. The program is operated at the Kentucky Horse Park and is receiving $3,000 from EEI.

The University of Kentucky Equestrian Team is a nationally-competitive team affiliated with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). The UK Equestrian Team welcomes all levels of riders, and all levels have the opportunity to compete in IHSA shows. EEI is donating $1,500 to the UK Equestrian Team.
Georgetown College is a small, private, Christian liberal arts college. Chartered in 1829, Georgetown College made history as the first Baptist college west of the Allegheny Mountains. Georgetown has a small faculty to student ratio of 9:1. EEI is making a donation of $1,200 to Georgetown College.
The Equine Land Conservation Resource builds awareness of the loss of lands available for horse-related activities and facilitates the protection and preservation of those lands. ELCR provides easy access to the information, resources and tools that help horse people take action. ELCR organizes the immense amounts of information about keeping land open for horses, provides it in plain language, and offers direct technical assistance to help people make a difference in their communities. Since 2007, ELCR has assisted in the protection of more than 200,000 acres of land and more than 1,200 miles of trails. ELCR is receiving a $1,000 donation from EEI.
Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI) is a non-profit charitable Kentucky corporation that was established initially to produce the 1978 World Three-Day Event Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park. Following the success of those championships, EEI established an annual event which quickly evolved into what is today the only Four Star three-day event in the western hemisphere, the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover.
The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover is one of the world’s most prestigious equestrian competitions and features the world’s best horses and riders vying for their share of $300,000 in prize money as well as a shot at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, which is awarded to any rider who wins the Rolex Kentucky, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton and Land Rover Burghley Four Star Events in succession. The 2015 Event is also an official selection trial for the US Eventing Team and will help determine which US riders will be chosen to compete at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, next July.
