Equestrian Community Organizes Fundraisers For McDowell

After news of the barn fire that killed 19 horses at High Plains Stables, home of eventer Martha McDowell, the equestrian community jumped to action to help those in need.

After news of the barn fire that killed 19 horses at High Plains Stables, home of eventer Martha McDowell, the equestrian community jumped to action to help those in need.

The Colorado Horse Park organized a drive for supplies and monetary donations. They plan to provide a donation box during the Colorado Horse Park Eventing Derby on Saturday, April 28. Checks may be made payable to Montana Equestrian Events, Inc. with Martha McDowell in the memo line, to The Colorado Horse Park or to Martha McDowell. The Colorado Horse Park will mail her a combined check and any collected barn supplies next week. According to the horse park, McDowell said they need horse blankets, bridles and saddles to help replace what was lost in the fire.

For those not in the area, donations can be mailed to Montana Equestrian Events, Inc., PO Box 595, Whitefish, MT 59937.

Rebecca Farm, located in Kalispell, Mont., also set up a donation program for High Plains. Donations can be mailed to Sarah Kelly, PO Box 8385, Kalispell, MT 59904. Please make checks payable to Sarah Kelly and put High Plains Stables in the memo line.
