The qualifying round of the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals kicks off today at 8:15 a.m. The top 25 horses will return with a clean slate tomorrow, Aug. 20, for Round 2, another classic round, at 6:45. The highest-placed 12 horses will advance to Round 3, a handy round, which follows immediately.
Fifty-nine entries will be taking a turn around the course. Juniors Lillie Keenan and Tori Colvin each picked up a last-minute add to their dance card for Andrea Ramirez. Her horses, Dominick and Carlano, were set to go with Peter Pletcher, but after his injury she set one apiece to Colvin and Keenan, respectively. John French will also have a last-minute add in Small Kiss, and Scott Stewart added Garfield to his schedule.
