Completed in 1921, the painting, was a work that would launch him on a lucrative career. This painting is one of two smaller versions of Rich Gift (the primary painting was sold at Sotheby’s New York in 1998 and is now in an American private collection; the second, smaller version is in the Munnings Art Museum in Dedham, Essex).
