Parker, CO, June 22 —The Colorado Horse Park jumps to honor dedicated servicemen and women on Saturday, July 23 with its first ever Military Appreciation Day. The management of the international equestrian complex will be paying their respects to veterans, current military and their families with a day of festivities.

“We wanted to support and recognize military families. They deserve our gratitude and thanks for their service. We are very happy to do our part by offering them the chance to relax and enjoy a pleasant afternoon with their families,” said Helen Krieble, The Colorado Horse Park’s founder and president.

Military Appreciation Day will be introduced to honor veterans of all branches and their families, including those who are disabled because of their dedication to our country.

The festivities of Military Appreciation Day begin at 2:30 p.m. Families can enjoy pony rides, a jumping competition, bouncy houses, and of course snacks, sodas, and water– all compliments of The Colorado Horse Park. Congressman Mike Coffman, a Major in the Marines, Retired, will give a short speech.

The $50,000 Parker Adventist Hospital Grand Prix competition caps the afternoon starting at 4:30.  Show jumping is an Olympic and World Cup equestrian sport.  Horses jump obstacles up to five feet tall, demonstrating power and carefulness.  Those horses and riders who leave all the fences up, then compete in a second round against the clock over a shortened course.  A horse can win by a fraction of a second.  It is exciting, engrossing and just plain fun.  Show jumping is a popular spectator sport, and some of the continent’s best horses and riders will be at The Colorado Horse Park to compete for nearly $1,000,000 in prize money.

“A pleasant afternoon is a small thing to give back to people who have risked their lives to protect our families, but we are honored to have them as our guests,” Krieble continued.
