Berryville, Virginia — CDCTA’s horse trials is an event that most Area II competitors add to their competition calendar season after season. Nelson Farm, located on Kimble Road in Berryville, Virginia, will be the new home of the CDCTA Horse Trials starting the April 10th competition. With the new venue sitting on private property, the courses will not be open to the public unless it is during an organized event, which promises the highest quality footing for the competitors. Course designer, Mike Mendell comments on the new venue, “The moving of the horse trials to Berryville is a terrific opportunity for CDCTA’s future as the new location is in the hub of eventing at this current time. The new property is a great upgrade from its most recent venue. We also have a terrific new fall date that works wonderfully with the local calendar.”

Prospective competitors can catch a first look of CDCTA’s new facility on Sunday, March 20th from noon to 2pm to take a tour of the farm while enjoying a champagne toast on our sponsor’s behalf! We will be celebrating CDCTA’s 29th year of hosting horse trials and would love nothing more than for our past and future competitors to join us. Although courses won’t be quite complete, visitors will have the opportunity to get the lay of the land and begin to see the questions that course designers Jon Wells and Mike Mendell will be asking.

CDCTA’s 2016 competition dates are set for Sundays, April 10th and September 11th. There will be open divisions offered on both weekends with cross-country courses guaranteed to be suitable for each level.

CDCTA is a Northern Virginia based, dressage and eventing, volunteer driven 501(c) 3 non-profit member organization. They have recently been notified that their dressage and eventing programs will be participating the Virginia Horse Industry Board “Virginia Bred” program.The horse trials are volunteer run with all profits used to underwrite team competitions, scholarships, clinics and a year-end awards program.
